Apply for Senior Freeze and Senior Exemptions
The Township of Schaumburg Assessor’s Office is available to assist with senior property tax exemption renewal forms. There are two senior tax exemptions available. Exemptions are due February 13, 2020.
The exemptions are:
- Senior Exemptions are available for residential property owners born in 1954 or earlier. First-time senior exemption recipients will need to apply in our office. However, residents who have already received the senior exemption will automatically be renewed under the newly signed Illinois House Bill 833 (Public Act 101-0453).
- Senior Tax Freeze Exemptions are available for residential property owners born in 1954 or earlier with a 2018 income of 65,000 or under. Senior freeze exemptions must be renewed annually.
“Older adults are missing out on savings if they don’t take advantage of these exemptions,” said Township of Schaumburg Assessor, John R. Lawson. “We encourage every senior resident to come in or call with questions.”
