Township Transportation Program Guidelines
 
Who is Eligible?
Schaumburg Township provides (curb to curb) Dial-A-Ride transportation services for seniors (Age 60 and over) and Permanently Disabled residents (Age 18 and over with doctor’s certification). All riders must be residents of Schaumburg Township and need to be pre-registered with the Township Transportation Department.

General Operation
Dial-A-Bus: Township Services are provided during weekdays only, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. To allow equal access, services are provided by advanced reservation, “first come-first served” basis and made no less than 24 hours in advance. Reservations must be made before 3 p.m., Monday thru Friday.

The Bus Reservation Telephone Number is: 847-882-1929. A donation of $1.00 per ride is suggested. Discount bus passes are also available from the bus driver or the dispatcher in the senior citizens offices at the township.
 

Trip Program: Transportation outside of the township for medical appointments is available for township residents through the TRIP (Township Riders Initiative Pilot) program. The service area includes: Barrington, Palatine, Hanover, Schaumburg, Elk Grove and Maine Townships. Service is also provided to the VA Hospital in Maywood, the VA clinic in Elgin, as well as to Stroger (Cook County) Hospital. Service on Saturdays and a weekday evening is also available with the TRIP program.

The fee to use the TRIP program is $5 for each township line crossed, with a maximum of $10.00 charged for each one-way trip and a maximum charge of $20.00 per round trip. You must be pre-registered for this service. Registration can be accessed by calling the township bus dispatcher at 847-882-1929 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4: 00 p.m., Monday thru Friday. Mention the TRIP program when you call.
 

Accessibility: All busses and vans are lift-equipped and can safely accommodate most wheelchairs, walkers and special equipment within our weight limitations and ability to safely secure the equipment.
