Disability Services DepartmentChanges To The Disabilities Parking Placard ProgramThe Secretary of State’s Office has started the recertification process for parking placards and license plates for persons with disabilities. Meter-exempt parking will be limited to those individuals who are physically unable to pay the meter.Patients with a permanent disability who qualify under the new criteria (please visit www.cyberdriveillinois.com) will receive a parking placard that will allow them to park free of charge. The recertification form will have a new section for the physician to complete for the applicant to qualify for meter-exempt parking. Any patient who does not meet the new stringent criteria will still receive a parking placard, however it will not allow them to park for free. The Secretary of State will mail information about the new changes along with the new certification form to all current applicants.
