Senior Freeze and Senior Exemptions Available

The Township of Schaumburg Assessor’s Office is available to assist Township seniors with senior property tax exemption renewal forms. The forms are due February 7th, 2018. There are two senior tax exemptions available. Both exemptions must be signed yearly to receive savings on 2017 second installment tax bills.
The exemptions are:
- Senior Exemptions are available for residential property owners born in 1952 or earlier.
- Senior Tax Freeze Exemptions are available for residential property owners born in 1952 or earlier with a 2016 income of 65,000 or under. This threshold is higher than in previous years.
Township of Schaumburg Assessor, John R. Lawson says, “Our Township staff can help seniors capitalize on these discounts before the February 7th deadline. They can navigate the forms and answer any questions to save residents money on their upcoming tax statements.”
