Help Fight Hunger with the Township of Schaumburg at the 33rd Annual Hunger Walk on September 8th
Join the Township of Schaumburg in the Greater Chicago Food Depository's 33rd Annual Hunger 5K Walk on September 8th to help raise awareness and support for food insecure households. Residents can join in by walking the lakefront in Jackson Park, Chicago Illinois at 8:30 am or by donating money or food. Transportation to and from the event will be provided for Township walkers. To participate residents can:
- Join us for a 5k walk at 8:30 am on Sept. 8th in Jackson Park, Chicago, Illinois. Register by Aug. 29th here: classy.org/team/175318
- Donate money until Oct. 8th here: classy.org/team/175318
- Donate food to the Township of Schaumburg’s food pantry at One Illinois Boulevard, Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
“Some families in our community must decide between paying for medication, utility bills, rent and food each month. Ultimately the Township’s goal is to ensure no one goes hungry and participating in fundraisers like this walk help us move the needle.” said Diana Nelson, Township of Schaumburg Associate Director of Program Support and Community Outreach. “We look forward to another successful walk to fight hunger.”
This will be the fifth year the Township has participated in the Depository’s walk. Financial donations help the pantry purchase food through the Greater Chicago Food Depository at a cheaper rate than residents can purchase on their own. The Township of Schaumburg’s pantry assists nearly 700 households every month.
For assistance registering and more information contact Diana Nelson at firstname.lastname@example.org or 847-884-0030.
The Township is accepting school supplies and monetary donations at our building until the end of August for District 54 low-income children.
