Township of Schaumburg Partners with Salata In December
NORTH CHICAGO SUBURBAN SALATA LOCATIONS HELP FEED THE HUNGRY
Salata “Salutes” Schaumburg and Wheeling Food Pantries to
raise money throughout the month of December
SCHAUMBURG/WHEELING, IL (DECEMBER 2017) – Salata, the Next Generation Salad Bar, is pleased to “Salute” the Schaumburg and Wheeling Township food pantries throughout the month of December. On Friday, December 1st, respective food pantry representatives will be on-site at Salata’s Schaumburg, Copley Center (140 East Golf Road) and Wheeling, Lexington Commons (1083 East Lake Cook Road) for the December “Salata Salutes” kick-off day, and welcome the community to come back all month long to help raise money and donations to feed the hungry.
“Salata Salutes” is a new fundraising initiative that gives back to local non-profit organizations each month. Throughout the month of December, whenever anyone “salutes” the food pantries at checkout, 15% of their bill will go into the designated Township’s Food Pantry fund. At the end of the month, a check will be presented to each food pantry in efforts to help serve community members in need of food.
“We’re pleased to continue this program to give back to nonprofit organizations within our community,” says Dan Campbell, owner, Salata Schaumburg and Wheeling. “Everyone should be entitled to healthy, whole food options. As a restaurant that encourages healthy eating, Salata is teaming up with our local food pantries to ensure that there is always food available to those in need this holiday season.”
"The Schaumburg Township Food Pantry is fortunate to have support from restaurants like Salata that give back to our community,” said Diana Nelson, Schaumburg Township’s Associate Director of Program Support and Community Outreach. “Food insecurity impacts many of our Township’s most vulnerable populations including children and seniors. We see over 700 families a month at our 100% donation-based pantry. Programs like ‘Salata Salutes’ help stock our shelves and we are thankful for the generous donations helping feed our neighbors this holiday season."
Craig Wleklinski, Wheeling Township Food Pantry Coordinator adds, “This time of the year can be financially difficult for some families, and our goal is to leave no community members hungry. Wheeling Township's Food Pantry is funded entirely with donations from the community, and we offer our sincere thanks to Salata for the generous efforts and contributions to make the food pantry available to those in need.”
