Cook County property tax bills this year will be mailed in late June and should be due August 1, 2012. This will mark the earliest mailing date and due date for second installment tax bills in more than thirty years.

The Paint-A-Thon program provides painting the exterior of single family homes at no cost to people with limited financial resources who are at least 60 years of age or have a permanent disability that hinders them from doing the work themselves. Applications are available in the senior and disability services departments. If the exterior of your house needs to be painted due to peeling, fading or worn paint, please consider applying.

The Support Our Seniors Council is sponsoring two free Fraud Prevention Presentations on Wednesday, May 16th. Shelley Bernhardt, Director of Consumer Protection for Western Union, will discuss scams targeting senior citizens, such as the telemarketing and grandparent scam.
